Popping Candy under a microscope! by Jessica

Mr Ball put a tiny drop of water on some popping candy and it started to sizzle and pop.

Most of it started popping from the top and finishing at the bottom. I noticed that the smaller bubbles were sort of jumping into the bigger bubbles to make them even larger. After a while the big ones eventually pop as well but it is harder to pop than the smaller ones. Most of them don’t pop but turn into smaller pieces. It then starts to turn into mainly water with some bubbles at the top. The bubbles then start to fade away and the water starts to spread out. We all found it very interesting and at the very end it looked like this, it looks like miniature bubbles floating on top of the water.
