Spring Term Reviews

Kirstie:

Numeracy: I have learnt how to use fractions and decimals correctly. 

Literacy: I have learnt about the features of an explanatory text, e.g. Causal Language. I also enjoyed writing and acting out the play scripts with my group (Veronica, Louise, Kenzi, Katie and Jasmine) and watching other people’s plays. 

Art: In art I have enjoyed doing the pointillism pictures of The Beatles with Miss Marshall. 

I.C.T.: In I.C.T we made 2 info graphics with Miss Marshall and Mr Gunter. 

Topics: In Fame, Fortune and Freedom (Our topics) with Mr Porter, I did Neil Armstrong because we had to do it from 1930-1980.

Amelia:

We have been learning about safety at Butlins. I enjoyed doing the activities, and the safety I liked doing the most was fire because it was fun and interesting. 

We have also been learning how to play hand ball. I have enjoyed doing hand ball because it was fun and I like doing PE. 

We have been learning about hockey and how to play a match. I have enjoyed doing hockey because it is fun game to play.

Veronica: 

I have learned how to divide fractions in maths. e.g. 5 thirds of 21= 35

I have also learned how to change an improper fraction into a mixed number and a mixed number into an improper fraction and how to take a fraction out of a number then put it into a decimal.

In Literacy I have learned how to write an explanatory text and the features of an explanatory text. I also learned how to write a newspaper report.

For our topic we had to have a booklet, poster, journal and a power point presentation (6 slides long at least) about a famous person, band or event in the 1960’s to the 1980’s.

In P.E we did a lot of hockey and some handball. I learned how to pass and how many steps we were allowed to take before we attempted to score or pass. In hockey we learned that the hockey stick had to be no higher than our hip. I also learned that you have to be in the D to shoot and if the ball touched your foot it was the other team’s ball.

In science we learned about the Sun, Earth and Moon and how the moon moves around the Earth. We also learned about sound; how it travels and how to stop sound from travelling.
In art we did pointillism with Mrs Marshall which was lots of fun.

In I.C.T I learned how to be safe on-line and we made info graphics.

I enjoyed doing pointillism because it was fun, I.C.T and Info graphics and P.E.

Jordan:

Maths: I have learnt 9x9=81 and 7x7=49

PE: I have learnt how to play handball properly. We have been learning about: handball, hockey and more.

I have enjoyed handball, maths, literacy, hockey, science and more!!

In numeracy we have been going on xtramath and loads more.

 
Daniel:

I enjoyed the Eden Camp trip because it was about World War 2 and it can tell us about the war and the life of prisoners of war. I have learnt that Eden camp had 45 huts but now 29. I have also enjoyed my topic on Adolf Hitler because I could learn more about him and what things he did. I really enjoyed this because there was mostly more information about him in the war but I wanted to learn about him before the war. We have also been doing fame, fortune and freedom. We did this to learn about history from like the Beatles and world war two. We all enjoyed it because we learnt more about the past. I have also enjoyed numeracy because we’ve learning about fractions that we might know or don`t know.  

Ryan:

I have learnt to convert fractions into decimals and to draw a line graph to collect data. When I went to Butlins we learnt about all kinds of safety: water, fire, internet safety, antisocial behaviour and lots more. In water safety, if someone is drowning don’t jump in because you don’t know how deep the water is and how cold it is.

Faye:

We have been learning things from our trip to Butlins, we learnt about electricity, how to save people from drowning, to save someone from choking, being safe on the internet and finally we did bus safety.

I enjoyed doing science about the Earth, Sun, Moon and space because I found fun and interesting facts. We also did sound, I learnt that sound travels tightly together. It is called molecules and they knock each other to get to your ears even if you close your ears you can still hear the things around you.

For our personal topic we did fame fortune and freedom. I did fashion designers 1930s till the 1980s. I found lots of interesting facts about things in those times.

In numeracy we had mental maths and if you get twenty you get a sticker. I learnt that if the numerator is one then the bigger the denominator the smaller the fractions. We looked at methods like the grid methods and line methods. I have learnt a lot more about fractions than any other year group.

In PHSE we have done about racism and Martin Luther Kings I have a dream speech. Me and Chloe did our, “I have a dream speech” and it got put up on the wall.

Morgan:

I have learnt lots of interesting facts in this spring term, but of course Eden camp has been one of the highlights.

We have been learning lots about living in World War 1 and World War 2 and been to a place called Eden Camp it was fun and exciting seeing fires and lots more!

In Numeracy we have been learning about decimals, fractions and mixed numbers. Also we have been doing addition and subtraction with remainders.

The main part of this term has been our personal topic, which is about fame, fortune and freedom during the period 1930 to 1980. It has been fantastic because we made posters and power points!

We have been doing lots in Literacy such as; newspaper reports, explanations and reviews.

Kenzi:

I have learnt how to do fractions and decimals in maths. I have also learnt how to write an explanation text.

We have been learning about World War 2 and researching facts about the Beatles and fame fortune and freedom.

I have enjoyed going to Eden Camp, going to Butlins I have enjoyed learning about fame fortune and freedom

In PE we have been doing hockey, dance and hand ball.

In topic we have been learning about fame fortune freedom with Mr.Porter every Thursday.

In science we have been learning about the Earth, sound and space. 

James:

I have learnt how to play handball, about WW2, in science I learnt about Earth, Sun, Moon and Space and also about sound.

In literacy I have learnt how to write an explanation text. In numeracy I have learnt how to use decimals and fractions. In art we have been doing pointillism technique in the style of Roy Lichtenstein. In our topic fame fortune and freedom I have learned about Charlie Chaplin. I have learnt that if you are on a bus don’t put on loud music, if there is someone in a lake call 999 don’t jump in to rescue them because you may drown.

Joshua:

I have learnt about the key event in the 1930-1980.

I learnt about Earth, Sun, Moon, and space.

We have been leaning about fame, fortune and freedom 1930-1980.

I enjoyed when we went to Eden Camp because we looked at interesting things about World War 2.

I have enjoyed the personal topic; I did Charlie Chaplin.
